Fly and cast

The nearby mountains of the Continental Divide and Flat Tops Range provide an ample freshwater source, filling our streams, rivers, lakes and reservoirs with crystal clear water. Our native cutthroat trout is distinguished by the red flash on their throat. Rainbow trout, brook trout, graylings and pike are other types of common fish in our waters. Some areas are designatied catch and release to preserve the habitat. The flyfishing shops in Steamboat Springs offer merchandise, casting and tying lessons as well as private guide service. They operate year round.
